The Annual Hilula of Rabbi Natan’el Shriki – When the Gates of Heaven Open

Each year, thousands gather in Netivot, in Israel’s Negev Desert, for a powerful spiritual event: the annual Hilula of Rabbi Natan’el Shriki. This extraordinary night is a cornerstone of faith for many Israelis and Jews around the world. It is described as a time when the gates of heaven open, prayers are answered, and miracles take place.

As the sun sets over the desert, a radiant glow fills the great hall. Candles flicker, ancient melodies blend with heartfelt prayers, and the atmosphere turns electric with holiness.
Rabbi Natan’el Shriki, a charismatic spiritual leader renowned for his compassion and wisdom, enters the hall quietly, blessing the thousands who have come to seek divine favor. The moment he raises his hands, many are moved to tears – praying for healing, peace, prosperity, love, and new beginnings.

Throughout the evening, thousands of personal notes are written and passed to the Rabbi. Each one is read, and each name is prayed for. Countless testimonies tell of prayers fulfilled – from recovery after illness to long-awaited marriages and business success.

“It’s not just a Hilula – it’s an awakening,”

“It’s not just a Hilula – it’s an awakening,” says one participant. “You feel your soul being lifted, as if heaven itself is listening.”
The Hilula of Rabbi Shriki honors righteous family ancestors and weaves together sacred heritage with modern beauty. On stage, traditional piyyutim (liturgical songs) resonate through the hall, accompanied by Middle Eastern instruments and spiritual teachings from Rabbi Shriki.

Participants receive blessings, mezuzot, and personal prayers from the Rabbi. The highlight comes at midnight with the moving “Prayer of Requests” – when thousands recite together, the hall illuminated only by candlelight. In that moment, many say they can feel the divine presence.

For the people of southern Israel, this night has become a symbol of unity and hope. Families dress in white, local businesses close early, and the streets of Netivot overflow with joy and song. Even those who are not religious attend, drawn by the spiritual energy that fills the city.

The Rabbi’s influence extends far beyond Israel

Followers from across the world send their names for prayer through his official website and watch the ceremony live. Many later share testimonies of answered prayers and unexpected blessings.
“I couldn’t be there in person,” wrote one viewer from New York, “but while watching online, I felt as if I was standing right beside the Rabbi.”

When the final prayer ends and the candles fade, a sense of peace remains. People linger long past midnight, whispering thanks, reflecting, or simply sitting in silence.

The annual Hilula of Rabbi Natan’el Shriki is more than a tradition – it is a living miracle. It has become a spiritual landmark in Israel, a night when hearts open, faith is renewed, and countless people around the world feel connected through one unifying truth:
In Netivot, on this sacred night, the gates of heaven open – and prayers are truly answer
