For Rabbi Shriki, the High Holidays are not only a time of personal reflection-they are a call to action. In the weeks leading up to Rosh Hashanah, his organization “Tehilat Shalom – Source of Wisdom” launched an extensive campaign to collect food for families in need across the southern region.
Hundreds of volunteers worked late into the night, sorting and packaging thousands of food baskets filled with essentials: rice, oil, honey, wine, and challah for the holiday table. Local businesses joined the effort, and donations poured in from supporters in Israel and abroad.
By the eve of the New Year, more than a thousand families had received assistance-each basket accompanied by a personal blessing from the rabbi. “This is the real joy of the season,” he told volunteers. “When a family sits down to its holiday meal with dignity, that’s a mitzvah no words can measure.”
During the days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the rabbi led special midnight Selichot prayers attended by crowds filling the courtyard and the streets around it. Worshippers described an atmosphere of deep emotion and unity-people standing shoulder to shoulder, weeping, praying, and singing together.
On Yom Kippur, the rabbi’s voice carried through the packed synagogue, urging introspection, humility, and kindness. He reminded the congregation that repentance without compassion is incomplete: “If you want your prayers to rise to heaven, open your heart first to the pain of another.”
After the fast, the mood shifted to joy and renewal. Rabbi Shriki personally supervised the building of a large communal sukkah, where hundreds of guests came to share meals, sing, and celebrate together. Families who had received assistance before the holidays were invited as honored guests, sitting side by side with donors and students of the yeshiva.
The sukkah became a symbol of equality and belonging-everyone welcome, no one left outside. “In this sukkah,” said the rabbi, “there are no titles, only souls.”
Throughout the week, the rabbi hosted Torah lessons, gatherings of song and spirit, and nightly prayers for peace, health, and unity among the Jewish people. The celebrations culminated in Simchat Torah, when the rabbi joined the dancing with a humility that inspired his followers. Witnesses described a night of pure joy: the Torah scrolls lifted high, tears and smiles intermingling as voices rose in song.
The Tishrei season at Rabbi Netanel Shriki’s courtyard reaffirmed the spirit that has defined his leadership for years-service, empathy, and unwavering faith. Beyond the ceremonies and the public prayers lies a consistent mission: to reach every home that needs support, to lift spirits when faith wavers, and to remind the people of Israel that holiness begins with kindness.
As one volunteer summed it up, watching the rabbi greet the last family leaving the sukkah: “He doesn’t just speak about blessings-he lives them.”
